Jimmy is from the Flower Mound High School band.
He was ranked 3rd chair Bass Clarinet in 6A division by the Texas Music Educators

2024 6A All-Stater, First chair, Allen High School Wind Ensemble, GDYO Philharmonic Orchestra
Jorge is a dedicated member of the Premier Program and the CSRA Clarinet Workshop. He holds the prestigious position of first chair in the Allen High School Wind Ensemble, showcasing his outstanding talent and commitment.
Starting his musical journey with the piano at the tender age of seven, Jorge discovered his passion for the clarinet in the 6th grade. Since then, the clarinet has become an integral part of his life. His dedication and hard work have earned him numerous school awards, beginning with his middle school's honor band and continuing through his four-year tenure in the wind ensemble at Allen High School.
Jorge's impressive accomplishments include performing at the 2022 Midwest Clinic in Chicago with his high school wind ensemble and being featured as a soloist in the Allen Eagle Escadrille's 2023 marching show. He has also been a valued member of the school's symphony orchestra for two years. In February 2023, Jorge won 1st place in the high school clarinet solo competition at UT Arlington, where he was awarded a brand new Buffet Crampon clarinet.
Joining the Premier Program under the guidance of Dr. Qian during his senior year, Jorge achieved a significant milestone by qualifying for All-State for the first time. He performed in the 2024 Texas 6A All-State Symphonic Band, standing out as the only soprano clarinetist from Allen High School to perform at TMEA that year. Additionally, he was a member of the GDYO Philharmonic Orchestra for the 2023/24 season, under the esteemed direction of Mr. Jim Frank.
Looking ahead, Jorge will be attending the University of Texas at Austin to pursue a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. We are excited to see him continue his clarinet performances in one of the school orchestras, where we are confident he will continue to excel.

Madalyn Bloomberg is a Clarinetist from Flower Mound, Texas, who has studied with Dr. Jun Qian for the last seven years as a student of the Premier Program at the Cyber Single Reed Academy.
Madalyn will graduate with honors from Marcus High School in June 2024 as a recipient of the Lewisville ISD Education Foundation (LEF) Marcus High School PTSA Scholarship and the LEF Amanda Drinkwater Honorary Scholarship. In addition to her academic achievements, she has been a notable contributor to the rigorous high school music program focused on competitive marching and symphonic band performance. During her high school career, Madalyn has been among the student corps to be recognized among the “Top Ten” marching band finalists at the annual Texas UIL State Marching Band Competition. She was among the student corps awarded UIL Bronze and Silver medals during her tenure in the music program. Additionally, she was among the student corps recognized among the “Top Ten” marching band finalists each year during her tenure at the annual Regional, State and National Bands of America competitions.
In December of 2023, she along with the Marcus Wind Symphony ensemble performed at the 77th Midwest Clinic in Chicago, Illinois. Madalyn, was the Principal Bb Clarinetist and featured soloist in the Overture to “The School for Scandal” Op. 5 by Samuel Barber.
As an individual performer, Madalyn was twice recognized as a TMEA All-State musician in Eb Clarinet performance and was most recently awarded Principal Eb Clarinetist and featured soloist in the Symphony Orchestra performance of Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks by Richard Strauss.
Madalyn is a two year alum of the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra Wind Symphony, where she has performed as a principal clarinetist and featured soloist on her Bb and Eb clarinets during her two seasons as a contributing member of this youth ensemble.

Elijah, a talented member of the CSRA Premier Program and a dedicated student at Lamar Middle School, is poised to make an impressive transition to Marcus High School. Under the expert direction of Dr. Jun Qian, Elijah will soon begin his freshman year as the third chair clarinetist in the top band.
Elijah's musical journey has been marked by numerous achievements. In eighth grade at Lamar Middle School, he secured a spot in the honor band in all district and the wind symphony band in all region. His success is not limited to eighth grade; as a seventh grader, Elijah also made the all district and all region bands and received the outstanding soloist award. Consistently demonstrating his skill and dedication, he maintained the 1st chair position at Lamar Middle School throughout these two years.
Beyond his musical talents, Elijah excels academically, maintaining all A’s in his honors and GT courses. His intellectual abilities are further evidenced by his first-place win in the eighth grade spelling UIL and his second-place finish in the LISD Martin Luther King essay contest.

Outstanding Soloist award and the Most Outstanding 6th Grade Woodwind Audition
James has just finished his first year of playing clarinet at Briarhill Middle School. During this year, he has earned several band awards, including the Outstanding Soloist award and the Most Outstanding 6th Grade Woodwind Audition. James received a Division 1 rating for his solo performance of "Aria and Scherzo." In addition to his musical achievements, he made the middle school 2024-2025 tennis team and qualified for the A/B Honor Roll while taking all Honors classes in his 6th-grade year.
Young freshman as the the Assistant Principal of the Macus High School Symphonic Band
Ryan, a talented clarinetist, recently completed his third year with the Briarhill Band and is set to join the Marcus Marching Band this fall as well as the assistant principal of the Symphonic Band this spring. In the eighth grade, he placed 4th chair in the Honors Band at both Regional and District levels this year and consistently held the co-principal chair in the Briarhill Symphonic Band.
Ryan began taking lessons with Dr. Qian the summer before he joined the Briarhill Beginners Band. Since then, his growth in skill level and confidence has been remarkable, demonstrating his commitment to excellence in music.
In addition to his musical achievements, Ryan was an active member of the Briarhill National Junior Honor Society and maintained an A Honor Roll for all three years at Briarhill. This year, he also took Math and ELA classes at the Marcus 9 Campus, showcasing his academic prowess.
Outside of his band activities, Ryan enjoys reading, watching sports, and playing video games with friends. His diverse interests and achievements make him a well-rounded individual and a role model for his peers.

Principal Clarinet, Central Texas Philharmonic Youth Orchestra
Carter is a talented freshman from Round Rock High School. He is the member of the CSRA Premier Program and holds the principal clarinet position in the Central Texas Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (CTPYO), where he has been an integral member for the past two years. His exceptional skills and commitment to music have made him a standout performer in the orchestra.
Starting in the fall of 2024, Carter has also earned a top chair in the prestigious Round Rock Wind Ensemble. His dedication and hard work were also evident this past winter when he performed with the All-Region Band.
In addition to his musical achievements, Carter is also excelling academically. As a freshman, he is a proud member of Mu Alpha Theta, the national mathematics honor society. Outside of school, Carter enjoys pursuing his interests in jiujitsu and archery, demonstrating his well-rounded talents and diverse passions.

Dr. Qian's article at the International Clarinet Association's magazine
Dr. Qian research and recording project called “ East meets West” has been noticed by and received great reviews from the International Clarinet Association (ICA). He was interviewed by the ICA’s official magazine, Clarinet, about his recording project and his thoughts regarding the global perspectives on the clarinet repertoire. The resulting article was just published on March 1, 2023. The Clarinet is the official publication of the International Clarinet Association, published quarterly. Each issue is packed with valuable information for everyone from professional players and teachers to amateurs and students of all levels. The magazine features reviews of new CDs and sheet music, insights on teaching from leading pedagogues, the latest clarinet research, notes on the jazz scene, reports from around the world, and much more.

He was a featured sax soloist at the Oklahoma University Saxophone Summer Camps.
He is also a talented sax player who will be a freshman at UT Austin as a music major!

Grayson, Freshman All-Region Band, Marcus Sports Star
February 2023
Grayson is a member of the CSRA Premier Program, a freshman and member of the Marcus High School Marching band. He started his lessons with Dr. Qian as a Junior Program member while attending Lamar Middle School.
During the 2022 – 2023 school year, he had the honor of performing with the Region 2 Freshman All - Region Band. He was ranked number 9 out of over 60 Bb clarinets that auditioned. Quite an accomplishment as he spent multiple weeks recovering from a football related shoulder injury and was unable to play his instrument.
Grayson maintains honor roll status while taking Honors, AP and GT classes at Marcus High School. Grayson was a member of the undefeated freshman sliver football team and recently found out he will represent Marcus High School on the freshman baseball team.
Outside of school, he is a member of USA Prime baseball club and a member of the freshman leadership team with the Young Men’s Service League.

Emily is a member of the premier program at the academy and a junior at Maypearl high school.
This year, it was her third year to make the ATSSB All- State Band, and she was placed 7th amongst the 35 4A clarinets. She also performs with the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra Clarinet Choir for its 2022-23 season.
Emily has been a part of her bands leadership team for 2 years, where this past year she was one of two drum majors.
Emily also participate in a local community band, where she has the opportunity to play with several talented musicians.
Her focus on academics is very strong as well. she is a member of National Honor Society, Student Council, the Academic UIL team, and several other school committees.
Finally, she is in the top 10% of her graduating class.

He was selected as an All-Stater by the Texas Music Educators Association ( TMEA) All-State audition process. As a result, he will perform as a member of and perform in San Antonio for the TMEA annual conference.
Jimmy is a straight-A student and a member of the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra Clarinet Choir for its 2022-23 concert season. He also made USA Fencing All Academics First Team and All American Second Team in 2022.
Jimmy started his lessons with Dr. Qian when he was a seventh grader in middle school.
Omkar, No.6 All-Stater, Co-Principal Clarinet, Texas All- State 5A Symphonic Band

Luke is a member of Junior Program at CSRA and a student at Schimelpfenig Middle School in Plano ISD.
After just a few months of online lessons with Dr. Qian, and having had no previous musical experience, Luke was selected as First Chair in the Clarinet section of the sixth-grade band Winter Concert at his school.
Luke is a quick study. He progressed from learning the very basics of assembling the instrument in his first lesson to sight-reading music and playing with confidence in just 5 months. He plans to continue to play the clarinet next year in the 7th grade wind ensemble.
Luke is also an aficionado of basketball and plays for a variety of teams year-round. He was a recipient of the 2022 President’s Award for Educational Excellence last year in recognition of his scholastic achievement.

Amaia, First Chair, Haggard Middle SChool, First Chair, All-Region Wind Symphony

Amaia is a member of the CSRA Junior Program, an eighth-grader, and the first chair of the band at Haggard Middle School in Plano.
During the 2022-23 school year, She was ranked No.3 during the Region 25 middle school audition process and performed as one of the first clarinet section members of the All-Region Wind Symphony ( top band). She is also on the Haggard Eagles basketball team and is a former champion gymnast in her 5th and 6th grades.
Amaia has been Dr. Qian’s online lesson student since her sixth grade as a beginner.

Conductor and Founder, the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra Clarinet Choir

Dr. Qian is named the first ever conductor of the GDYO clarinet choir.
The Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra Clarinet Choir is the newest member of the GDYO family. It is scheduled to premier in the Fall of 2022 to provide music education and performance opportunities for Clarinetists with demonstrated musical ability. Students audition each spring before a panel of judges with scales, solos and orchestral excerpts. The GDYO Clarinet Choir performs three concerts annually where they are introduced to a large variety of repertoire.
Many of the CSRA students have been regular members of the GDYO program. Last year alone (2021-2022), two of the four clarinetists from GDYO top orchestra were Dr.Qian's students. Two of the four bass clarinetists in the top GDYO band were also from the CSRA.

Madison is a member of the CSRA Premier Program.
She has performed with the Marcus High School Wind Symphony as the first chair since her junior year. She is also a proud section leader of the Marcus Marching Band, which was recognized as the State UIL Silver medalist at the competition in San Antonio this past year, and a finalist in the BoA National Championships.
As a high academic achiever, Madison is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and Tri-M Music Honor Society.
After winning a competitive audition, she will perform with the clarinet choir of the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra Program in the fall.
Madison is a member of the CSRA Premier Program.

She is also a proud section leader of the Marcus Marching Band, which was recognized as the State UIL Silver medalist at the competition in San Antonio this past year, and a finalist in the BoA National Championships.
As a high academic achiever, Madison is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and Tri-M Music Honor Society.
After winning a competitive audition, she will perform with the clarinet choir of the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra Program in the fall.

George is a member of the CSRA Premier Program.
He is the featured soloist and first clarinetist of the Hebron High School Marching Band, which was placed No.1 for both the BOA Super Regional Championship and UIL State 2021.
He was also the principal clarinet for All-State Philharmonic Orchestra and the Eb soloist with the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra.
This fall, he will attend the Cleveland Institute of Music and study with the members of the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra.

First Chair, Middle School All-Region Symphonic Band and Outstanding Soloist Award

Grayson was a member of the Junior Program and completed 8th grade at Lamar Middle School.
He was awarded Outstanding Soloist during his Division 1 Solo and Ensemble Contest. He was also the first chair Bb clarinet in the All-Region Symphonic Band, All-District Symphonic Band, and Lamar Middle School Symphonic Band.
Grayson maintained honor roll status the entire school year while taking two high-school-level classes as well as all Pre-AP classes. Grayson completed the LISD dual language program by completing AP Spanish 4 in 8th grade and had the opportunity to be immersed in the Costa Rican rain forest for two weeks this summer.
Outside of school, he is a member of the USA Prime baseball club. His team claimed the championship in the 14U open gold bracket in the NCS Don Myer 13th Annual World Series Tournament.
Grayson will attend Marcus High School in the fall and plans to join the football team , try out for the Baseball team and perform with the marching band.

She finished her sophomore year as one of only four sophomore squad leaders for the Marcus Marching Band, which was recognized as the State UIL Silver Medalist at the competition in San Antonio this past year, as well as a finalist in the BOA National Championships.
Jordan won an Outstanding Section of the Year award for Symphonic Band at Marcus and volunteered at multiple UIL events.
Jordan was offered membership in the English Honor Society at Marcus and won The Magnificent Marauder award for Business Management this year. Jordan has achieved all of this while taking all honors and AP classes.

Four Year All- Stater

Caroline is a member of the CSRA Premier Program and the principal clarinetist, as well as the drum major, of the DeKalb High School band.
She has been accepted to every music school she applied for (University of Texas at Austin, University of North Texas, and Baylor University).
Instead, she will attend Texas A&M University majoring in business, and will perform with the top band there this coming fall!
